We’ll start in the heart of our Capital City, Pretoria (2 nights) with a relaxed introduction to some South African heritage including the famous Nelson Mandela statue at the Union Buildings, before we explore some local apiary sites and allow you to open your first African Bee hive. (and yes, all the way through we will be enjoying fine South African cuisine and wines.)
The second leg of our tour will be spent at the stunning 5-star Kambaku River Lodge, overlooking the banks of the Crocodile River into the Kruger National Park. With this view, you will enjoy all your meals and then fall asleep listening to the sounds of the African bush.
We’ll visit a local beekeeper and learn about the honey production and pollination in the areas around the Kruger National Park, taste local meads, search for the Big Five in the Kruger National Park and you will see how beehives are used to protect iconic trees from elephants – a great example of using nature to control nature.
Upon our return to OR Thambo International Airport, you can either fly home or extend your stay and explore Cape Town and some of the other gems of South Africa.
